Crews contain ‘stubborn’ Pittsburg fire at 2 acres

Contra Costa Fire Protection District officials said just after 2 p.m. that the “stubborn grass, debris and junk fire” along Highway 4 in Pittsburg has been contained at 2 acres.

At 1:26 p.m., Con Fire said via Twitter that they had multiple units at the scene of the highly visible vegetation fire east of Railroad Avenue. The blaze was located in the storm drain system under the highway.

Eastbound lanes of Highway 4 were shut down in the area and remain closed as firefighters work to mop up.

No further information was provided about the cause of the fire.
