Crews Fire near Gilroy jumps from 150 to 600 acres in less than two hours

The public is being asked to avoid the area of the Crews Fire near Crews Road east of Gilroy, which has grown to more 600 acres and prompted additional evacuations of people on Canada Road, Cal Fire said Sunday at 4:37 p.m.

An update provided by Cal Fire officials shortly after 3 p.m. said the fire was advancing at a moderate rate. Cal Fire said two structures are involved and others are threatened. The burn area was then estimated to be more than 150 acres.

Additional air and ground equipment have been called to the scene.
