San Francisco police are seeking the public's help in finding Koa who has been not seen since Thursday, June 25, 2020. The photo depicts a dog that looks similar to Koa who is German Shepherd-Labrador.
San Francisco police are asking for the public’s help to find two missing dogs that police believe were stolen.
A French bulldog named Tubby has not been seen at its home since June 29 on the 1900 block of Greenwich Street. Police describe 1-year-old Tubby as light tan male last seen wearing a brown leather collar with his name on it.
As of July 2, police had not yet located the dog and opened a theft investigation.
Police are also investigating a second dog theft that occurred on June 25 at approximately 12:58 p.m. in Golden Gate Park.
An 82-year-old man reported to police at the Park District station that his roommate took his dog Koa for a walk and returned without the dog.
The roommate told the victim another dog walker had taken the dog, police said.
Through an investigation, police believe that the victim’s roommate, 54-year-old Jeffery McChesney, gave Koa to a woman in the area of Stow Lake or 19th Avenue.
Police believe the woman is a transient in the Stow Lake area and describe her as petite female with buzzed brown hair.
Officers arrested McChesney Wednesday on charges of dog theft and elder abuse.
Koa is a 4-year-old black and brown German shepherd-Labrador with a microchip. The dog has extra toes on its rear paws.
