East Bay fire districts conduct training exercises with controlled burns in Concord, Moraga

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District is conducting a training burn Friday on the south side of the Campolindo Ridge.

The training, to prepare firefighters for the upcoming fire season, started at 10 a.m. and will continue to 3 p.m., officials said.

Residents in the surrounding areas should consider keeping doors and windows closed during the training burn, due to smoke, according to an advisory from Moraga police.

Contra Costa Fire Protection District held a similar training exercise Friday at the site of the Concord Pavilion. The department’s Crew 12 used fields near the event space at 2000 Kirker Pass Road to demonstrate the dangers of fireworks. According the the Con Fire public information officer, the exercise was concluded by 12 p.m.
