Crews work to contain Bay Point vegetation fire near train tracks

Fire crews are responding to a Bay Point vegetation fire Friday night that began near Levee Road.

Contra Costa Fire Protection District officials said via Twitter at 10:35 p.m. that the fire appears to have been caused fireworks and has burned approximately 1/8-acre toward the train tracks to the north.

Trains in the vicinity have been slowed to increase firefighters’ safety as they work to contain the blaze.

Con Fire officials said this is the third vegetation fire they’ve responded to Friday evening. The other two were in San Pablo and Pittsburg and were reportedly extinguished just after 10 p.m.
