Oakland freeway shooting injures four, shuts down eastbound I-580 traffic

The Oakland Police Department is assisting the California Highway Patrol at the scene of a shooting on Interstate 580, police officials said in Wednesday tweet posted at 4:11 p.m.

Initial reports are that four people were injured in the incident on the eastbound portion of the freeway near 106th Avenue. Traffic in the area is stopped and police are asking people to use alternative routes.

No further information has been provided about suspects or conditions of the four victims. This is an ongoing investigation.
