The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights will join faith leaders and advocates at a rally Sunday at the main gates of San Quentin State Prison in Marin County seeking clemency and release of prisoners by the state due to a rapid spread of novel coronavirus at the facility.
More than 800 cases have been identified among just inmates this month, according to Sunday California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reporting. An additional 89 San Quentin staff members have contracted the virus.
The rally is planned from 1 to 2 p.m. at the main prison entrance on Main Street.
