Developer to propose 12-unit Lafayette condo project at site of old commercial building

The Lafayette City Council on Monday night will listen to a request by a developer to demolish an existing 5,962-square-foot commercial building and then build four-story, 12-unit condominium project with underground parking.

The single-story commercial building is at 3721 Mt. Diablo Blvd., and the condo building would be built on that parcel as well.

The proposed “West End” project, which in an earlier version included 13 units, includes two below-market-rate units, qualifying the project to receive concessions and waivers related to the state’s density bonus law. The Planning Commission and Design Review Commission have both forwarded to the City Council a recommendation of approval.
