Mason James Lira, 26, from the Monterey area is being sought by authorities in connection with a Paso Robles, Calif. shooting spree where one man was found dead and a sheriff's deputy was shot in the face Wednesday, June 10, 2020.
A Monterey-area transient is being sought as the suspect in a shooting spree that killed a man and seriously wounded a sheriff’s deputy in Paso Robles early Wednesday morning, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Mason James Lira, 26, allegedly started shooting at the Paso Robles Police Department building at about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday. A sheriff’s deputy responding to a call about the shooting was then shot in the face and a local man was later found fatally shot at the Paso Robles train station.
Authorities did not find the suspect after a widespread search of downtown Paso Robles but have identified him as Lira and say he is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone who spots Lira is asked to call 911 and report his location to law enforcement.
