Concord cooling center offers relief from extreme heat

The Concord Senior Center is opening as a cooling center on Wednesday when temperatures in the area could reach triple digits, city officials said.

The center at 2727 Parkside Circle and will be open from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday. Face coverings and a temperature check will be required to access the center and social distancing will be enforced inside to limit the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, according to the city.

People shouldn’t come to the center if they have symptoms of Covid-19 or have been ordered to stay in quarantine.

City officials said visitors to the center will receive bottled water but are invited to bring their own snacks, other drinks and activities.
