A four-alarm fire that engulfed a warehouse along San Francisco’s waterfront Saturday morning was under control several hours later, with fire crews planning to monitor for hot spots through the evening.
The blaze at Pier 45, reported at 4:15 a.m., displaced at least three tenants of the warehouse, fire officials said.
At one point flames threatened the SS Jeremiah O’Brien floating museum, but fire crews saved it from damage. By 2 p.m., the fire was under control, fire officials said.
One firefighter was injured and is in stable condition, said Fire Lt. Jonathan Baxter. No other injuries were reported.
The fire damaged the underside of the pier, which will be examined by the port officials for structural integrity, Baxter said.
About 150 firefighters were called to the scene and 50 fire vehicles were used. One fire truck was damaged battling the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
