Fire crews call in medical helicopter to transport victims injured in Byron Highway crash

A crash on Byron Highway in eastern Contra Costa County on Sunday evening required the use of a medical helicopter in the emergency response, fire officials said.

The two-vehicle crash was reported at about 5:20 p.m. in the area of Byron Highway and Mountain House Road, according to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District.

There were four people in the two vehicles, one who had suffered major abdominal and leg injuries and a second who had a minor arm injury. The other two were uninjured, fire officials said.

A helicopter from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to take the injured victims to a hospital.
