A motorcyclist who died in a collision with another vehicle on Clayton Road in Concord on Friday morning has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as 20-year-old Michael Hopfner.
Hopfner, a Concord resident, was heading west on Clayton Road shortly after 7 a.m. when he collided with a car at the intersection of Heather Drive.
He was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and succumbed to his injuries there, police said.
The 46-year-old Pittsburg man driving the other vehicle remained at the scene after the collision and cooperated with investigators. Impairment doesn’t appear to be a factor in the collision, according to police.
Anyone who may have seen the crash is asked to contact Officer Katan Nanthasiri at (925) 671-5096.
