A man died after his vehicle crashed into the Contra Costa Canal in Pittsburg early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 2:22 a.m. at 3702 Railroad Ave., according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
Crews arrived and began to rescue the man trapped in the vehicle. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and the county coroner’s office confirmed later Wednesday morning that he passed away. The man’s name is not yet being released.
