Double shooting leaves one with critical head wound, police say may be gang related

Two people were shot Friday evening in an incident that Fairfield police say may be gang related and not a random act.

The intersection at Dover and East Tabor avenues was closed for an investigation of the shooting, first reported about 5:20 p.m.

A 21-year-old victim is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries to the head, police said. The second victim, age 20, is hospitalized with moderate injuries that are not considered life threatening.

A firearm was recovered at the scene, but no suspects have been identified yet, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Investigations Bureau at (707) 428-7600.
