The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued guidance stating that all Americans should wear cloth face coverings as masks when out in public. However, President Donald Trump called the guidance a “voluntary” measure in his daily White House press briefing.
Open SFBay USA coronavirus tracker.The Washington Post is reporting that they obtained an IRS internal document stating that CARES Act stimulus payments could be electronically submitted by direct deposit beginning April 9. It should be noted that banks may not post payments to accounts until closer to April 17. Qualified people who haven’t provided valid bank account information will receive paper checks that could take several months to be delivered due to distribution staggering based on income level — individuals or married couples reporting the least income on their 2019 or 2018 tax returns will receive checks first.

Officials announced Friday that 27 people from within a 47-bed assisted living facility have tested positive for Covid-19 since Tuesday. Of those infected at the Sutter Health Network Orinda Care Center who have contracted the virus, three are staff members and 24 are residents. Two residents have been hospitalized to date.
Approximately half of the infected patients are over the age of 80, according to Contra Costa County Health Officer Dr. Chris Farnitano.
Farnitano also issued a mass isolation and quarantine order Friday for anyone with Covid-19 and any people who may have come in close contact with those individuals.
The superintendent of Martinez schools said Thursday that Alhambra High School is no longer being considered as an emergency medical facility site due to “complexities of converting the school buildings.” The campus sits approximately .3 miles from from the county hospital

A second Napa County resident has died from novel coronavirus complications. The patient was being treated at a hospital in another county.
County officials extended the area’s shelter-at-home order effective Thursday.

In response to calls from five supervisors and advocates to lease hotel rooms to house The City’s homeless population of approximately 8,000 people, both on streets and in congregated shelter settings, Mayor London Breed said “it’s a real challenge.”
In a Friday briefing, she stressed the importance of prioritizing individuals who have tested positive for Covid-19, are showing symptoms or are otherwise at risk due to age or underlying health conditions.
