The city of Concord on Tuesday announced that its new police chief will be Mark Bustillos, currently a San Jose deputy chief.
Bustillos is scheduled to be sworn in on April 6 in a ceremony that will be streamed online via the city’s website and the Concord police Facebook page.
He has served for 27 years with the San Jose Police Department, including most recently as deputy chief of its Bureau of Administration, Concord city officials said.
City Manager Valerie Barone said in a news release:
“Mark is a proactive and creative problem solver with extensive community policing experience and strong leadership skills.”
Barone added:
“I am confident that his positive, inclusive management style will serve the department and our Concord community well.”
Concord police Chief Guy Swanger announced last August that he was retiring after nine years as the city’s top cop.
