Santa Clara County public health officials on Friday confirmed two more deaths due to the novel coronavirus, bringing the county’s death toll to eight.
The seventh death was a man in his 80s who had been hospitalized since March 3 and died Tuesday, according to the Santa Clara County Public Health Department. The eighth death was an adult male in his 70s. The department did not disclose when he died or the area of residence for either patient.
County public health officials also confirmed seven new cases, bringing the county’s total to 196. Santa Clara County has the most cases of any Bay Area county, with San Mateo County being the only other county to eclipse 100 cases.
