Solo-vehicle crash kills 68-year-old man on Highway 152

A 68-year-old Merced County man died in a solo-vehicle crash on state Highway 152 in southern Santa Clara County on Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. as the Gustine resident was driving a 2006 Subaru Forester east on Highway 152 east of Casa de Fruta Parkway.

The car turned to the left and struck the concrete center divider, then came to rest in a highway lane. Emergency responders arrived and found the man unresponsive in the driver’s seat, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP. His name has not been released.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but impairment is not suspected as a factor, CHP officials said.
