Vehicle crashes into Berkeley power pole, building

Police in Berkeley reported Friday morning a vehicle crashed into a power pole and a building.

The crash occurred on Gilman Street, according to police.

As of 4 a.m., Gilman Street was closed between Fifth and Second streets.

Police said PG&E was expected to respond to the scene to repair the power pole Friday morning around 7 a.m.

Commuters are asked to avoid the area due to the repair work, which is expected to occur until at least mid morning.
