Updated numbers reflect a far larger power outage than stated earlier Sunday afternoon, with 3,746 customers initially affected by the outage, and 2,259 customers still without power as of 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Silicon Valley Power officials said.
Earlier, the nonprofit utility owned by the City of Santa Clara had reported an outage of about 500 customers.
Silicon Valley Power crews as of late Sunday afternoon were still searching for the cause of the outage, which started shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, and there is no estimated time for the remaining 2,259 customers to come back online.
