Nominations are now being accepted for the annual awards celebrating the life of activist and labor leader Cesar Chavez given by Los Medanos College in Pittsburg.
Suggestions are open for awards in three categories: The LMC Cesar Chavez Award for Exemplary Community Service, established in 1995; the East County Educator Award; and the Chavez Spirit Award recognizing student/emerging leaders.
Nominations should be submitted online at www.losmedanos.edu/chavez/nominate/ by the Feb. 29 deadline.
The college, 2700 East Leland Road in Pittsburg, will hold its annual Cesar Chavez Celebration from 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 27.
