Police investigate Highlands Park fatal shooting

A 38-year-old man fatally shot Thursday night at a Vallejo park is the city’s first homicide this year, police said.

Officers responded to the shooting shortly after 7 p.m. at Highlands Park on Regents Drive and found a man with at least one gunshot wound, according to a release from the Vallejo Police Department.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital and later died, police said.
