One man dies, woman suffers critical injuries in mobile home fire

A 71-year-old man died and a 67-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition after a fire tore through a mobile home Monday night, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

A fire engulfed a mobile home about 9:50 p.m. in the 600 block of East Weddell Drive, officials said Tuesday.

Firefighters rescued the 67-year-old woman and she was taken to a hospital. On Tuesday, she was listed in critical condition.

The man was found inside the mobile home and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sunnyvale public safety agency.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but officials said there was no immediate sign of foul play.
