County honors two local humanitarians as part of MLK commemoration

An adult and a student will be honored Tuesday morning as humanitarians of the year in Contra Costa County, county officials said.

Tamisha Walker of Richmond, Safe Return Project executive director, and Christina Mazzi, a senior at Concord High School and founder of the Women of Color Project, will be honored at a free community celebration starting at 11 a.m. at the county supervisors’ chambers at 651 Pine St. in Martinez.

The celebration is also the county’s 42nd Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Event, which is meant to evoke King’s life and legacy.
