Westbound I-80 reopens in Berkeley after pre-dawn fatal crash

All lanes of westbound Interstate Highway 80 near Gilman Street in Berkeley are now open following a fatal traffic collision early Wednesday morning.

At least one person died and multiple lanes were initially blocked following the collision, which was reported at 5:22 a.m. just east of Gilman Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fiery multi-car crash caused a backup for a few miles on Highway 80 early Christmas morning. All lanes have now opened.
