San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera announced that an illegal nightclub Bayview was shut down Dec. 19.
Herrera said the club operating in a portion of the building at 2110 Palou Ave. prompted dozens of 911 calls this year. Responding officers discovered a number of illegal activities, including gambling, robberies, assaults, gun shots and alleged gang activity.
Police were called to the building several times just this past March for gun possession, three fights and an aggravated assault.
The City Attorney’s Office warned property owners in April, but complaints continued to roll in.
In September, Herrera’s office established a Code Enforcement Task Force to cite property owners for building code violations and criminal activity.
The owners of the Bayview club building were able to successfully evict the nightclub operators without incident and with help from the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department.
Herrera said in a statement:
“I’m pleased we could restore safety and peace of mind to Bayview residents just in time for the holidays. Keeping our communities safe is our top priority, and we use all the tools at our disposal to do so. This underground operation had been a magnet for crime. I’m pleased we were able shut it down while saving taxpayers the cost of a lawsuit.”
