SamTrans bus strikes, kills pedestrian

SamTrans has added four new bus routes in San Mateo county to better serve high schools in Half Moon Bay, San Mateo, San Carlos and Menlo Park.

A pedestrian was killed by a SamTrans bus Thursday morning, leading to the closure of the Redwood City Transit Center.

At about 8:45 a.m., the pedestrian was struck by the bus on James Avenue near El Camino Real, SamTrans spokesman Dan Lieberman said.

The transit center was closed while SamTrans police investigated the incident, Lieberman said.

No additional information was immediately available.
