Contra Costa deputies investigate pair’s death as murder-suicide

Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide following the discovery of two bodies Tuesday in a home in the Mountain View area just east of the city of Martinez, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

The bodies of Daywa Arakozie, a 34-year-old woman from Oakley, and Montai Glaspie, a 31-year-old man from Bay Point, were discovered about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in a house in the 2400 block of Monterey Avenue by Martinez police working on a missing-person case, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said. As that address is in unincorporated Martinez, sheriff’s deputies took over the investigation.

The two victims were in a relationship, detectives said, and said their deaths appear to be a murder-suicide.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information on this case is asked to call the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office at (925) 646-2441 or its investigation division at (925) 313-2600. For any tips, email to tips@so.cccounty.us or call (866) 846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message.
