Sacred Heart hopes to provide Thanksgiving meal boxes for 4,400 families

Sacred Heart Community Service will start their annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution early Monday morning, looking to handout 4,400 holiday food boxes to community members this week.

The boxes each contain around $100 of groceries including canned goods, fresh produce, cooking oil, pasta and other items to prepare a holiday meal, organizers said. Families will also take home a choice of a turkey, chicken or ham.

Organizers said they only have 1,800 turkeys so far and are looking for more, in addition to other food donations as they plan to distribute 3,500 more food boxes in December.
