Police make arrest in stabbing death of Santa Rosa man

A 21-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon in connection with the Thursday stabbing death of a 55-year-old man, Santa Rosa police said.

Carlos Martinez-Carceres of Santa Rosa was arrested on suspicion of killing the man at his home in the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue near the Coddingtown Mall, police said Saturday. Police said there were signs consistent with a struggle inside the home.

The victim’s name had still not been released Saturday, but police said Martinez-Carceres and the victim knew each other.

Police on Saturday also found alleged evidence tying Martinez-Carceres to the killing, but did not say what it is.

Police had found marijuana plants growing in the yard at the victim’s house, but haven’t said whether they believe the plants have anything to do with the killing.

The investigation, police said, is continuing.
