San Jose police lifted the evacuation on Tyhurst Court shortly before 11 p.m. Friday and cleared residents to return home, ending a long ordeal that included a standoff with the subject of a search warrant and the discovery of possible explosive devices.
The warrant was served as part of the investigation of an explosive device found Tuesday at Oak Grove High School.
Andrew White, 36, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 5000 block of Tyhurst Court following an extended standoff with police.
Officers found “what appeared to be several improvised explosive devices” in the home and evacuated the neighborhood, police said in a news release.
The San Jose police bomb unit worked to neutralize the devices, which prompted the prolonged evacuation to continue.
Detectives have not connected the devices found Friday with the device discovered about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the school at 285 Blossom Hill Road, the department said.
