Pedestrian dies after San Pablo Dam Road collision

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday in El Sobrante in unincorporated Contra Costa County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP responded Thursday at 6:10 p.m. to a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on San Pablo Dam Road, east of Clark Road.

The pedestrian, a 36-year-old man, was unresponsive and was transported to the hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.

The driver, a 65-year-old man from El Sobrante, was not injured in the collision and remained at the scene following the incident.

The driver was traveling east on San Pablo Dam Road, and the pedestrian was crossing the roadway outside a crosswalk when he was struck.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been a factor in the incident, according to the CHP.
