Attorneys painted starkly different pictures of PG&E and their oversight over natural gas infrastructure during closing arguments of a federal criminal trial on charges of violating a pipeline safety law.
PG&E issued an “all-clear” early Thursday morning when improved wind conditions ended its most recent Public Safety Power Shutoff that affected 50,000 customers Wednesday in 11 counties including Napa, Solano and Sonoma.
As of 6 a.m. Thursday, power was restored to 10,000 customers, according to PG&E. Power was restored to 4,800 customers in Napa and Sonoma counties as of 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Inspections and restoration work are underway on PG&E equipment, and the utility said it expects all customers to have power by Thursday night or sooner, pending any damage found in its electrical system.
The power restoration will involve 5,500 on-the-ground field personnel and 45 helicopters. PG&E’s Community Resource Centers will remain open until restoration is complete.
Winds speeds exceeding 50 mph were recorded in some of the affected counties and were over 70 mph in Sonoma County during the shutoff, according to PG&E.
