Medical examiner works to identify infant found dead near golf course

San Francisco police officers are investigating the suspicious death of infant found Saturday near Lincoln Park Golf Course in the western portion of The City.

Officers discovered the body at approximately 2:20 p.m. after responding to a report of a death and request for medical assistance in the 300 block of 34th Avenue, police said. Medics pronounced the infant dead at the scene.

Police have released little information, but expressed concern over the unknown health of the child’s mother. The City’s medical examiner’s office is in the process of identifying the victim.
