Missing Hood Mountain hiker found dead in creek bed

A hiker missing since Saturday was found dead on Thursday afternoon.

A search and rescue team found the body of Jon Clifford Thursday afternoon in a creek bed at the south end of Hood Mountain Regional Park east of Santa Rosa, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said.

Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office Jon Clifford, 71, has been been missing since Saturday, November 2, 2019. He was last seen hiking on the east side of Hood Mountain Regional Park in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Clifford, 71, was last seen Saturday in the park. Dozens of people searched for him, and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office’s helicopter Henry-1, tracking dogs and an off-road motorcycle unit assisted in the search.
