PG&E begins inspections, power restoration for 22 counties

PG&E issued an “all clear” Wednesday that will allow the utility to make inspections of its equipment in areas impacted by its Public Safety Power Shutoff on Tuesday.

The inspections will allow the utility company to begin restoring power to 516,000 customers in portions of 22 counties with the exception of Kern County, which is expected to be “all clear” Thursday morning.

Inspection and restoration of power also continues Wednesday for the 973,000 customers in portions of 38 counties that were impacted by a prior power shutoff on Saturday, PG&E officials said.

Approximately 365,000 customers from the two most recent power shutoffs are still without power, and by 10 a.m. Wednesday, 723,000 customers’ power had been restored, according to PG&E.
