PG&E delivered a massive generator to power the Vallejo, Calif. Cordelia raw water pump station that was impacted by the most recent Public Safety Power Shutoff. The city lifted a water use restriction Monday, October 28, 2019 after the generator was installed. It will remain in place until the extreme wind and power shutoff threats have passed.
The city of Vallejo reactivated its Emergency Operations Center on Tuesday following PG&E’s second Public Safety Power Shutoff in the past week due to high winds that could cause the utility company’s equipment to spark a wildfire.
Significant areas of Vallejo were still without power leading to the second power shutdown. Additional areas may lose power and restoration may take longer, Vallejo officials said.
A city information center for status updates and information on available resources for the public, and commercial services and water billing will be open at City Hall between noon and 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. All other city facilities remain closed.
Three resource centers are open for water, restrooms and electric charging centers: the Solano County Fairgrounds at 900 Fairgrounds Drive, the Florence Douglas Senior Center at 333 Amador St. and the Springstowne Public Library at 1003 Oakwood Ave. The centers are not overnight shelters.
The Vallejo City Unified School District has been closed so far this week and will put out an updated message at 5 p.m. Tuesday on plans for the rest of the week.
