Sonoma County mandatory evacuations impact about 180,000 residents

Residents in all 10 Sonoma County designated evacuation zones are now under orders to leave immediately.

Cal Fire officials again expanded evacuation orders Sunday at 7 a.m. as the Kincade Fire reached a 30,000-acre burn zone with only 10 percent containment. According to the Sonoma County Emergency Alert site, approximately 180,000 people have been ordered to leave the following areas immediately:

  • Zone 1: Geyserville
  • Zone 2: Knights Valley
  • Zone 3: Healdsburg and Windsor
  • Zone 4: Dry Creek Valley
  • Zone 5: Mark West, Larkfield and Wikiup
  • Zone 6: Northeast Santa Rosa, including Fountaingrove, Oakmont and Rincon Valley
  • Zone 7: Forestville, Guerneville, Duncans Mills, Jenner, Bodega Bay and Occidental
  • Zone 8: Sebastopol and Valley Ford
  • Zone 9: Coffey Park and Santa Rosa north of Guerneville Road and Steele Lane
  • Zone 10: West of Highway 101 between Guerneville Road and Ludwig Avenue
Sonoma County Emergency E Ten Sonoma County zones are now under immediate, mandatory evacuation Sunday, October 27, 2019 due to the 30,000-acre Kincade Fire. Most residents in Santa Rosa, Calif., through the Russian River community and to the coastal towns of Bodega Bay and Jenner are being told to leave immediately.

Evacuation centers have been established in the following locations; however some are quickly filling or are already at capacity:

  • Santa Rosa Fairgrounds, 1350 Bennett Valley Rd., Santa Rosa
  • Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Bldg., 1351 Maple Ave., Santa Rosa
  • Sonoma Marin Fairgrounds, 175 Fairgrounds Rd., Petaluma
  • Petaluma Veterans Center, 1094 Petaluma Blvd., Petaluma

Large animals can be brought to the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds.

Highway 101 has been reopened to traffic between Santa Rosa and Cloverdale in both directions so residents can evacuate, the California Highway Patrol said.

The high winds are adding dangerous momentum to an already raging fire. The National Weather Service reported gusts in Healdsburg as high as 90 mph Sunday morning. Several other fires have erupted Sunday throughout the greater Bay Area, including in Oakley, Vallejo and Clayton.

Cal Fire is still reporting a total of 79 structures destroyed, but anticipate that number grow substantially. More than 3,000 fire personnel are assisting the effort.
