Fire prompts Vallejo evacuations

The area of Clearpointe Drive and Del Sur Street in Vallejo is being evacuated by safety personnel, according to the California Highway Patrol, as a brushfire that started shortly after 9 a.m. continues to spread.

The fire is burning on both sides of Interstate Highway 80, which is closed to traffic, as are the Carquinez and Zampa bridges.

The fire also spread across the Carquinez Strait to Crockett, where officials issued evacuation order for the town.
