Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday issued State of Emergency proclamations for Sonoma and Los Angeles counties, where the Kincade and Tick fires are burning.
Newsom is scheduled to visit Sonoma County Friday afternoon to meet with emergency responders, residents, health officers and local and state officials.
On Thursday, Newsom announced the state has received federal Fire Management Assistance grants for resources to fight the 21,900-acre Kincade fire burning near Geyserville and the 4,300-acre Tick Fire northwest of Los Angeles. Both are 5 percent contained as of Friday morning.
The Fire Management Grants will allow local, state and tribal agencies to recover eligible costs.
