Big-rig strikes, kills Petaluma man on tricycle

A Petaluma man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a collision between his large tricycle and a big-rig on eastbound Lakeville Street near U.S. Highway 101 in Petaluma, a police lieutenant said.

The victim was dead when police arrived after responding around 12:20 p.m. Witnesses said two semi-trucks were in the area shortly before the collision. Motorists flagged down the truck drivers and both remained at the scene, police Lt. Brian Miller said.

It appears only one semi-truck struck the man in the 1000 block of Lakeville Street while they were both heading east toward U.S. Highway 101, Miller said. Authorities are not yet releasing the name of the man who died.
