Police in Idaho fatally shoot Pleasanton kidnapping suspect

Twin Falls police officers fatally shot a Pleasanton man last week after a high-speed pursuit that involved at least four Idaho law enforcement agencies.

There were felony arrest warrants for 28-year-old David James Bamber Jr., and the Pleasanton Police Department considered him armed and dangerous.

The incident that led to the pursuit happened Tuesday and involved the Idaho State Police as well as sheriff’s deputies from Ellmore and Gooding counties.

Authorities say Bamber was suspected of kidnappings in Pleasanton and the area of Bald Mountain, Nevada. He was also the subject of a protective order issued in California and was believed to be driving a stolen vehicle.

Twin Falls police have not disclosed much about the circumstances of the shooting that led to Bamber’s death, but they say the case remains under investigation by their critical incident task force.
