I-580 lanes reopen after multi-vehicle collision seriously injures motorcyclist

The California Highway Patrol has cleared all lanes of westbound Interstate Highway 580 east of the Altamont Pass in unincorporated Alameda County, after a collision seriously injured a motorcyclist. The CHP said the collision was first reported near Grant Line Road at 4:51 a.m. and involved at least two other vehicles.

Multiple lanes were blocked as fire crews treated the injured party, and a Sig-alert was issued at 6:38 a.m. It was cancelled more than an hour later at 7:52 a.m.

An update on the motorcyclist’s condition was not immediately available.
