I-580 lanes reopen after crash involving vehicle, big-rig near Altamont Pass

All lanes of westbound Interstate Highway 580 near the Altamont Pass reopened Friday morning after a multi-vehicle wreck spread debris all over the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported at 7:40 a.m. near the West Grant Line Road off-ramp, CHP officials said.

Initial reports indicated a vehicle left the highway, went up a hill, then came through a field and crashed through a fence back onto the highway, hitting a big-rig, according to CHP Offer Tyler Hahn. An ambulance was called but the CHP did not immediately provide information about the number or extent of injuries. A dog was also injured in the crash.

All lanes reopened as of shortly after 9 a.m.
