Vehicle hits tree off I-580, killing one in Solano County

One person is dead after a vehicle went off of Interstate Highway 505 in Solano County and struck a tree on Tuesday morning, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The crash was first reported at about 6:55 a.m. on Highway 505 just north of Wolfskill Road near the border with Yolo County. A Toyota Corolla appears to have been driving in the southbound lanes of the highway when it crossed the center median and northbound lanes, then went off the roadway into a vineyard where it struck the tree, CHP spokesman Officer Miguel Camarena said.

Camarena did not immediately have any information on the person who died or why their vehicle went off the roadway.

No lanes of Highway 505 are being blocked as a result of the crash, he said.
