Richmond shooting leaves two dead, one in critical condition

Two people are dead and a third is in critical condition after a shooting in Richmond Thursday afternoon, according to police. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 3100 block of Esmond Avenue, near 31st Street, at 3:47 p.m.

The surviving victim was transported to a trauma center by helicopter. An update on that individual’s condition was not immediately available.

Suspect information was not immediately available Thursday evening, but a spokesman for the Richmond Police Department said the shooting is under active investigation.
