Police arrest suspect in fatal hit-and-run inside Cupertino park

One of two victims died Tuesday afternoon following a hit-and-run in Cupertino’s Rancho San Antonio County Park, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at 12:52 p.m. after a driver reportedly drove through the park and struck two pedestrians before fleeing. One victim was treated at a hospital where they died at about 1:50 p.m. The other victim was treated at the scene for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The suspect, whose name hasn’t been released, was detained at about 1:05 p.m., taken to a hospital and will later be booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder and other felonies, according to the sheriff’s office.
