A power outage impacted more than 22,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Company customers in south eastern San Francisco, Calif. Friday, September 20, 2019.
A large power outage in San Francisco on Friday morning, affecting more than 22,000 customers, was triggered when a construction crew hit an underground power line.
The construction company, a contractor not affiliated with PG&E, hit an underground line at near Illinois and 22nd streets about 8 a.m.
PG&E had previously said the location was at Pier 17.
Power is out to several neighborhoods, including Mission Bay, Potrero, South of Market, Dogpatch, China Basin and Noe Valley.
The outage temporarily disrupted Muni Metro subways in both directions though trains were back in service as of 9:21 a.m., according to transit officials. Traffic signals have been impacted and people are advised to use caution on streets and treat traffic lights as four-way stops.
Crews are working to restore power, estimated to be by 10:30 a.m. on PG&E’s online outage maps.
