An inmate who walked away from a minimum-security facility at Salinas Valley State Prison near Soledad Saturday was taken back into custody Monday afternoon in San Francisco, according to state correctional officials. Adam Beck, 35, was discovered missing at about 5 a.m. Saturday during a routine count of inmates and was not in his assigned area as a dining worker, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
The prison notified local law enforcement agencies to assist in their search for Beck, who officers found shortly after 4:15 p.m. Monday at an apartment complex in San Francisco. He was taken into custody without incident and transported back to the prison.
Beck came to the state prison system in September 2018 to serve four years for evading or trying to evade an officer while driving recklessly and for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger, state correctional officials said.
